2019.2.1 SemEval2019 Task4 (Hyperpartisan News Detection) †

Kazuaki Hanawa, Shota Sasaki, Tsubasa Tagami, Hiroki Ouchi, Jun Suzuki and Kentaro Inui got 3rd place in 42 teams on SemEval2019 Task4 (Hyperpartisan News Detection).

塙 一晃，佐々木翔大，田上翼，大内 啓樹，鈴木 潤，乾 健太郎の研究グループがSemEval2019 Task4 (Hyperpartisan News Detection)において、42チーム中 第3位の成績を収めました。

2018.12.14 ☆★ End-of-year party! ★☆ / ☆★ 忘年会を開催しました　★☆ †

The Communication Science Laboratory (Inui-Suzuki Lab)'s end-of-year party was held at the "Shikisai" restaurant. Conversation flourished between lab members, family members, StepQI and Creative Engineering students, new members planning to join next year, and others, even between those who usually don't have much opportunity to chat. A few Lab members gave an instrumental performance which further improved the festive atmosphere. Thank you for a great year, and we are very much looking forward to the next one!

青葉山キャンパスの「レストラン四季彩」にて、乾・鈴木研究室の忘年会を行いました。研究室メンバーに加え、メンバーのご家族やStepQI、創造工学の学生さん、来年度からの新メンバーに他機関の研究者の方なども参加し、普段は話す機会の少ない相手とも話に花を咲かせました。また、研究室の有志による楽器演奏もあり、とても盛り上がりました。 1年間ありがとうございました。また来年もよろしくお願いします。

2018.12.11 Annual Conference Award win at the 2018 Annual Conference of the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI) / 2018年度 人工知能学会全国大会（JSAI）全国大会優秀賞受賞 †

2nd year Ph.D. candidate Yokoi Shō and 2nd year Master student (at time of award) Reina Akama received the Annual Conference Award (Japanese only) at the 32nd Annual Conference of the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI) (Japanese only) held from May 6th to May 8th. Congratulations!

2018.12.7 Professor Kentarō Inui appointed as EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019 General Chair / 乾健太郎教授が国際会議EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019のGeneral Chairに就任しました †

Professor Kentarō Inui has been appointed to the General Chair of the international conference EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019, one of the top conferences of NLP. EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019 will be held in Hong Kong from November 3rd to November 7th.

乾健太郎教授が、国際会議EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019のGeneral Chairに就任しました。EMNLPは、自然言語処理分野のトップ会議の一つです。EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019は、11月3日～7日に香港で開催されます。

Our team placed 27th out of 40 at the annual Ekiden relay race, followed by an Oden party.

恒例の駅伝大会が開催され40チーム中27位という結果でした。駅伝後には、おでんパーティーも行いました。

A laboratory excursion was held for the first time in a while. Members visited both Minami-Sanriku shopping center and Tatsuganesan and had fun at the hot spring and banquet.

2018.7.31-8.1 Open Campus held / オープンキャンパスが開催されました †

An open campus event targeted to prospective students and local residents was held between July 31rd and August 1st. The Inui-Suzuki lab organized demonstrations and panels showing research results.

7月31日-8月1日の2日間、入学希望者や地域の方々を対象にしたオープンキャンパスが開催されました。 乾・鈴木研究室では、研究成果のデモンストレーションやパネル展示をおこないました。

After the two-day event, Lab members enjoyed a social gathering. また、二日間のオープンキャンパス後には研究室メンバー皆で打ち上げも行いました。

2017.11.28 JPHACKS 2017 Award Day「デザインワンジャパン賞」受賞 †

11月12日（日）に行われたJPHACKS 2017 Award　Dayにて、伊藤拓海（学部4年）、吉成未菜里（学部4年）が他研究室の学生とのチームで開発したアプリ『NagaraMeshi』が、「デザインワンジャパン賞」（企業賞）を受賞しました。

これは、目的地までの経路上にあるお店を検索できるwebアプリで、予算、料理のジャンル、経路上からの距離、到着地への移動手段などの情報も加味し、より好みに合ったお店を探すことのできるアプリです。 受賞おめでとうございます。

7月25日-26日の2日間、入学希望者や地域の方々を対象にしたオープンキャンパスが開催されました。 乾・岡崎研究室では、研究成果のデモンストレーションやパネル展示をおこないました。

Open campus was recently held for two days (7/25 and 7/26) for students. During this time, Inui-Okazaki laboratory held various demonstrations which captivated almost every student who visited.

また、乾教授による模擬授業も行われ、大盛況でした。

The trial lesson also held by Professor Inui at that time. It was a huge success.

研究室メンバーに見守られる中、博士3年の高瀬翔（1/23）と周双双（1/24）の博士論文本審査会（発表50分、試問35分）が行われました。学部4年から博士後期課程3年までの6年間の研究の集大成がまとめられた、濃い85分間でした。高瀬さん、周さん、おつかれさまでした！

Sho Takase (D3)and Shuangshuang Zhou recently had their PhD defense which included a compilation of their fascinating work over their academic career.
